Project Implementation Area : Kok Klang Village ตำบล Borabue อำเภอ Borabue จังหวัด Maha Sarakham 44130

Project Duration: March 27, 2025 – May 23, 2025

Objectives :
1. To expand and enhance knowledge development in the cultivation of Borabue GI Jicama according to PGS standards among the jicama grower network in Borabue District, Maha Sarakham Province.
2. To pilot the application of knowledge on Borabue GI Jicama cultivation under PGS standards within the cultivation plots of members in the jicama grower network in Borabue District.
3. To monitor, evaluate, and document lessons learned from the implementation of knowledge on Borabue GI Jicama cultivation according to PGS standards by members of the jicama grower network in Borabue District.

Activities :
1. Expanding and enhancing knowledge development in Borabue GI Jicama cultivation under PGS standards for members of the jicama grower network in Borabue District.
2. Piloting the application of Borabue GI Jicama cultivation knowledge under PGS standards within the experimental plots of network members.
3. Monitoring, evaluating, and documenting lessons learned from the implementation of Borabue GI Jicama cultivation according to PGS standards.

Number of project participants: 120 people

Project Budget: 100,000 Baht

Results :
1. Percentage of farmers applying the acquired knowledge in GI Jicama seed production in compliance with PGS standards.
2. Germination rate of jicama seeds in the farmers’ experimental plots increases.
3. Number of model farmers producing Borabue GI Jicama seed in accordance with PGS standards

Results society :
Economic Aspect: Farmers’ income increases by 10 percent.
Social Aspect: One established Borabue GI Jicama grower network certified under PGS standards.
Educational Aspect: One short training course developed.
Environmental Aspect: Restoration of agricultural land conditions, with improvements in soil quality and an increase in local biodiversity.

Participation :
Students: Serve as assistant trainers, facilitate group-based learning processes for target participants, and collaborate with the community in identifying problems.
Staff Members: Serve as project implementers and coordinators.

Project continuity :
2nd Year

Problems obstacles :
Budget disbursement and debt clearance faced delays due to changes in faculty-level administrators, resulting in a slower approval process for project documentation.

Improvement :
Project organizers should plan activity implementation and financial disbursement to align with the administrative schedule.

Suggestions :
The university’s project monitoring and evaluation team should communicate relevant information to project leaders in advance and coordinate closely with the community to avoid operational obstacles.
